St. Francis Hotel. San Francisco

The most famous hotels of America's west coast. It was opened in 1904 with a view to emulate the grand hotels of Europe and with its position on Union Square, it certainly achieved that goal. The menu is from their famous grill room in 1925 and whilst overcrowded in todays perspective, the menu is incredibly extensive (i.e. 19 ways to serve potatoes). The menu covers are copies of the seven incredible murals in the grill room. One small quirk or signature item was the fact that all coin change given to guests were uncirculated or polished by the Hotel so that ladies long white gloves would not be stained by dirty coins.
